Opportunity knocked Twelve months after Blackburn bus and coach refurbishing company Bus and Coach World relocated to larger premises it has continued to grow both in orders and recruitment.

The company moved to the 13,500 sq. ft. site in Appleby Street following a series of contract wins and staff hires. It was founded by Philip and Robert Hilton in January 2007 with four members of staff and now employs 30 people, counting Stagecoach, First Group, Transdev Blazefield and Arriva among its customers.

Co-founder Philip Hilton, the former Joint Managing Director of East Lancashire Coachbuilders, told routeone: “We have seen a real growth in the business since we started up, and with our larger staff numbers we simply ran out of space. The new site has allowed us to continue our current work but also prepare for future growth.

“We now turn out three double-deck refurbs per week for Transport for London contracts, this along with major refurbs for Blazefield route 36 ( route one, News, 26 May), Arriva North West and Blackpool Transport, along with major accident repairs for Stagecoach Manchester and Arriva North West, which all bodes well for the future.”

The company also has a growing market for vehicle repaints, completing six vehicles per week. Repeat orders have come from Moving People, Coachhire Booking, Blakewater Coaches, BDA Blackpool, Tyrers of Adlington and Finches of Wigan.
